Springin Ahead

Usually at this time of year, the trees are just starting to bud…if we are lucky. By Memorial Day weekend my daffodils are blooming and the trilliums can be seen as you glance into wooded areas as you drive by. Not this year. We have blossomed! The trees are in full bloom and the lilacs which normally don’t bloom until mid June are blooming in Cheboygan and neighboring cities. The trilliums have been seen for the last two weeks. I stopped just before going into Gaylord and shot theses pictures of trilliums for you.
For those of you that are not familiar with the trillium I will tell you a little about them. They are white flowers about the size of a coffee cup around with three petals. In certain stages of bloom they are a rosy-lilac color. They are named for the triune God because of their three white petals and are one of Michigan’s favorite wildflowers. Enjoy!
