Starry, Starry Night

Tonight is absolutely beautiful. From the lobby or any of the rooms one can look out at families swimming in the pool and those choosing to sit on the balcony and look in awe at the beauty of the Mackinac Bridge and Straits. It is 10:00 P.M. and a rosy twilight has ascended across the evening sky. The sky is softly streaked with shades of pink and lavender making the calm waters of the straits a piece of glass. The reflection of the Mackinac Bridge in the calm water makes the towers touch the beach. The lights on the bridge are gold this year to celebrate the 50th birthday of the bridge. Their reflection in the water as the night darkens is breath taking. As the light slowly fades and darkness creeps in, the reflection of the bridge in the water intensifies.
A look towards the western sky over the Mackinac Point Lighthouse and one can see the brilliant planet Venus. The night sky is filled with stars in every direction. Last night at approximately 11:15 we were able to observe the Space Station as it orbited the earth in the starry sky.
Imagine being able to swim at sunset while looking directly at the Mackinac Bridge as the lights are coming on and freighters are passing beneath and then to be able to sit on the balcony and see the beauty of the night sky and magnificent Straits of Mackinac.
Come on up and see for yourself. The beauty of this area is incredible. And just think…you can have it all from your room.
