What a beautiful day! The temperature is in the low 80’s with a stiff, warm breeze. Today the Mackinac Point Lighthouse renovations are nearing completion. The lighthouse is 30 feet to our west and is part of Colonial Fort Michilimackinac Park. You may tour the lighhouse and climb to the top of the tower that once held the fresnel lens. The view there is fabulous! You actually look down and can see the lines on the pavement, of the Mackinac Bridge. If you look to the west, one can see the St. Helena Lighthouse and the blue waters of Lake Michigan. Looking to the east, not only do you have a fantastic view of our motel, but you also see Mackinac Island, the Grand Hotel, Fort Mackinac on the island, the Round Island Lighthouse and beautiful Lake Huron. If you are lucky enough, you might see a freighter or two.
When planning your trip here, the Mackinac Point Lighthouse and Colonial Fort Michilimackinac are two points of interest not to be missed…..all within walking distance for our motel.
With the weather being so beautiful, it makes me want to play hookie!
