On Sunday I was walking out of the laundry room when I heard the honking of several geese. I stood under the porch and looked up. (I learned never to stand out in the open and look up when you hear birds. Remember the song “Birdie, birdie in the sky. Drop some whitewash in my eye’? Well no thank-you to that little diddie.) In the sky was a sight that I had never seen before. There were four huge flocks of geese. Three of which were in huge V formations flying south for the winter. What about the fourth flock? Well, I have decided that they need further training on flying in groups. Or perhaps they did not pay attention in Geese Training School because they were flying in a check mark formation! One thing I know for sure is that a V or check mark formation, winter is just around the corner.
